What a fiasco! A triple bill of headliners! The only bad thing about this particular night was the absolutely horrible traffic coming out of Sacramento. Alas, I missed the photo shoot, and whole performance by the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. The night was so young, it was hard to even imagine that we had missed anything. Anyway, I strapped on my photo credentials just in time to be escorted down to Ted Nugent already in progress. The photo shoot was for two songs only and I don't know which songs I missed prior to my arrival in front of the stage. We climbed through the barricade and settled into the pit to get up close and personal with the motor city madman. Ted whipped right into "Wango Tango," a little far from the concert's motif as the stage was covered in camo netting and military items. If you haven't seen Ted yet, don't miss your chance folks, it's a show and a half. Ted decided it was high time we all expressively hear his opinions on guns and war with a little number called "Walk Tall, War Hog." Then Ted said something about going along with that motif, or time period; I'm not sure which, and busted into "Status Quo." This was just the beginning, Ted hadn't even started his rant yet. Here comes the critical political views as Ted dedicated "Kiss My Ass," to the Dixie Chicks. At the end of the song a cardboard cut-out of Saddam Hussein was raised above the stage and Ted took his star and striped compound bow and slipped an arrow right through the center of his chest. I think the arrow was flying our colors too, but I can't be sure. Political statements having been made, it was time to rock. Ted wasted no time
